pushing two twin beds together

ILs want us to come to the lake house this summer. The room has two twin beds. There is no way DD and I will fit in a twin. MIL suggested we push the beds together. Is there anyway to do this safely?

My mom once tied the bed legs together... that held them firmly. The you could place a thick blanket over the whole bed (both) and use one larger sheet.

We have also tied two together at the legs, and then lay on it the other way so the divide is at our hips (the kids tend to stay closer to our heads). We also layed blankets over it to try to make it work better but the mattresses themselves would shift unrealted to the bed frame.

If we stayed there longer I would of put the mattresses on the floor. I think that is by far the safest choice. There are to many varibles otherwise.

we are currently using two twin beds as a king size. Each bed has its own mattress pad, then a blanket across the joint, then king size sheets across the whole thing. So far we haven't had any issues.

We are using two twins with the boxsprings on the floor - we bought one of those foam things to fill the gap between the mattresses, and covered it all up with a king size mattress pad. It works pretty well except the mattresses are different ages so DH's side sinks down more than mine. We don't like to sleep on the "crack" but it would probably be less noticeble with same-age mattresses.
