what if my baby doesn't get front teeth!?

Maybe this is normal but I've never heard of it. DS is just over 10 months and got his two front teeth on the bottom at about 7 months. We've been expecting the two front on the top for a month now and this morning I was feeling around in there and he's got a tooth poking through on the top.... BUT it's not one of the front ones: It's the one next to the front ones on the side kind of.

Is this normal? Has anyone else had their child's teeth come in this order? Is he ever going to get his top front teeth?? I'm doing the stereotypical first time mother freak out dance right now-- Help!

My son's first two teeth were the bottom middle. His third was a top tooth-- not one of the two middle ones, one next to those. His fourth tooth was one of the top middle, his fifth was another bottom one, and his sixth was the other top middle.

So, yup, no reason to think yours won't get those top ones eventually. Sometimes they just come in a weird order.

Very normal. Don't worry about it, they'll come in on their own time.

My one-year old has had seven teeth for months now. It looks like the 8th may be finally coming through. Our doctor says "teeth are the least predictable thing about babies." His own son didn't have any teeth until 14 months.

Well, if it is any comfort, our DD has been on about the same timeline.

I wonder the same thing, at times.

I'm sure they'll show up at some point, though!

I had a friend with a baby whos canines came in first - she looked like a little vampire...was super cute!... She even went on to get molars before the front teeth. But she did eventually get front teeth! hehe
Not 'average' - but completely normal!

That was me as a baby! FWIW, my dd didn't get *any* teeth until she was 14 months old. Give it time!

My daughter is almost 10 months old and is teething the same way. She got the 2 bottom teeth in the middle aroud 7 months old and is now working on 2 teeth on the top, either side of the middle teeth.

My daughter is 9 months old and has NO teeth!! I keep wondering when they will show up...

But DS had a teething pattern similar to your LO's. He got his 2 bottoms and then one on the side and then - finally! - the top 2 came in. Once those were in it was like dominoes.

My DS was 9 months old with no teeth. Now he's still 9 months old and has 6!! Zero to 6 in two weeks, talk about no sleep in our house.
