high risk for menopause

I'm just curious if there is anyone else who is high risk for early menopause. Both my mother and grandmother went through it in their early 30's ... my mother at 32 and my grandmother before 34 (my mom never told me her exact age). My mom's previous oncologist thinks there is a link between this and the cancer in my family ... they both died from colon cancer that was diagnosed at the same age. But anyway, my doctor had told me there is definitely a genetic link and that I should keep this in mind when TTC. My doctor says there's a test that can be done that'll predict when I'll go through it, but it's not something I have researched yet. He has offered to refer me to a specialist.

But anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else was at high-risk for it.

I recently found out that my mother had completed menopause by age 40. I am 36, so of course this worries me that my time for TTC is quickly running out. I wish my DH felt the urgency that I do I had a friend who thought I was crazy when I told her at what age my mom had completed menopause....but as we know, it can happen early! I have not talked to my doc about it, but might in the near future as my cycles have gone a little wonky in the past year (perimenopaus?!?). I never knew there was a test, but I would be interested in such a thing. Anecdotally, there does not appear to be a cancer/early menopause link in my family, but I have a host of lovely issues to worry about that I should probably begin looking further into. Fun stuff.....

Best of luck in TTC
