Is it possible my supply is dwindling???

Help! I hope not!! Would this even be possible?

DD is 6 months next week, and in the last week or so, has been nursing a lot more than before. From 6-8 am she is almost constantly nursing. I feel like she is just hungry, hungry hungry, and I'm going to try to introduce solids today or tomorrow, but what concerns me is that when I pump, nothing comes out. I used to pump a few ounces a day, on top of nursing, and now, zilch, nothing, nada. Not a drop. Is she just emptying me? I was under the impression that if baby nursed more, your supply responded accordingly. I don't think this is happening. In the past, when I pumped more than usual one day, I was engorged for 2 days! I haven't felt "full" for a good week now.

My mom thinks it's because I'm loosing weight. I have been steadily loosing my pg weight, but at a very reasonable rate of 1 lb per 10 days or so, and I'm still close to 15lb over my pre-pg weight. I'm pretty active and run 3-4 times a week, but have been doing that for close to 2 months now, so I doubt that's it. (unless the effect is super delayed?!?). I eat well, and I admit I could drink more water...could that be it? Is it just because she is really ready for solids and I'm just not providing for her anymore?

wrong time to intro solids!

hop into bed with baby, lots of water, a can of beer and a bowl of oatmeal, make sure you are both topless, turn on a TV Land marathon and dont leave the bed for a good 2 days.

the pump is not an indication of how much milk you have. by this age many moms find that oversupply has evened out with baby's needs, which is what you want. who wants to be leaky and engorged at 6 mos?! LOL

get your supply back on track for at least one month before starting any solids.

It may just be a growth spurt. By this point your supply should have steadied to the point where engorgement is a thing of the past, and that feeling of fullness is often also gone by this point.

It is possible however, but unless you've done something to cause it, it's unusual (introducing a bottle, scheduling feedings, etc.).

No bottles, no schedule feeding....

I did have oversupply at first, so I guess now I just have normal supply!
