allergy "ring" question

for those of you who noticed your little one had a food allergy or intolerance due to the telltale red rash ring around the anus -- was it actually literally a circle right around the anus? my little one's (almost 4 wks old, rash has been here for about 2 wks now) persistent rash is on the bum cheeks close to the anus, but is in two lines down each side of the bum -- not ringlike in my opinion. we have an appt with the ped on fri, but i am still worrying until then. have started cutting out soy just in case in the meantime (we are vegan, so, ugh).

DD's was more like a really raw rash on both cheeks, just next to her anus. There was a little pink all the way around, but it was mostly the raw spots on the sides.

not sure what you mean balancedmama? i plan to not eat anything with any soy or soy products/derivatives/etc in it for the next two weeks to see if there is any improvement (and keep a food diary) and then go from there to other foods/food products if soy doesn't appear to be the culprit. i'm not sure how else to eliminate soy from my diet?

also with the soy we have to avoid anything labeled as having 'natural flavors' as we've found they sometimes contain soy - so keep an eye out for that too

oh sorry, i gleaned from your other post that you were starting to cut things out, and i thought it meant you weren't fully eliminating.

here's a pretty good list of things to avid if you're cutting out soy http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org...dance_List.pdf

some people don't react to soy lecithin and soybean oil but my kids react to both
