Plant-based omega 3/DHA supplement for 9 mo

Dd's dr recommended coromega supplement for her dry, rashy skin. But it has fish oil and egg in it and we're vegan.

I am also supposed to take an omega 3/DHA supplement since I'm still breastfeeding, and I do but it doesn't seem to be enough. And the lady at my local health food store said they don't make an algae supplement for kids that young.

Suggestions?

This one is 'safe for children under 7' - http://www.drfuhrman.com/shop/DHA.aspx

We use Spectrum Essentials brand DHA. They're vegan and made for all ages. I buy them from Whole Foods.

If you live where there's a Trader Joe's, they sell gummy fish algae based DHA for kids. I give it to my 20 month old and she loves them. They're sort of lemon flavored and if she's whiny, I give her some so she'll be quiet. I cut them in small pieces and she does well with them.

If I were trying to avoid buying supplements could I just eat seaweeds and flax oil and chia?

I just read the label of the DHA. It is now fish oil based. I know it was vegetarian before. It's annoying.

Someone just told me to give the baby a touch of hemp oil for DHA.

Hemp oil has ALA but it does not have DHA. ALA is converted into DHA in the body, but only in very small amounts. It's really best to take a direct DHA supplement.

Some seaweeds have EPA, and flax and chia have ALA. You will not get DHA from any of these, so if you are wanting to up your DHA you should definitely supplement.
