3rd Trimester surgery, anyone?

Anyone want to share their experiences of going under "the knife" during the third tri?

I know it's supposed to be avoided, but I have an unavoidable, non-emergent procedure that is necessary (major oral health stuff). I will be receiving "conscious sedation" and lots of topical anesthetic.

This is scheduled at approximately 30 weeks. Support only, please!

Specifically, I am a little concerned about this surgery and recovery draining my energy stores so close to the end and then being exhausted for the work of labor.

I have heard of several ladies who have had to do so (such as removing an impacted wisdom tooth or a root canal that was necessary before the infected tooth got worse)

I have not done it myself but the few experiences I have heard of all ended with happy healthy full term babies despite having the oral surgery in the late 20s/early 30s in weeks.

Trust me you can be exhausted to the BONE but when that labor comes you find energy. It shows up out of nowhere... I was hardly able to move the few hours before I went into labor with my daughter but when she came I was energized and ready to get up and run around shortly after she was born! LOL and this was running on no sleep in over 24 hours and very little sleep for the weeks before then.

I can't imagine what kind of oral surgery it might be that you're worried about it tapping your energy reserves for an event (hopefully) TWO MONTHS later! I say as long as your care provider and dentist agree that the types of sedation being used are safe, get your stuff taken care of, and don't stress about it.
