Is there a trend with water breaking (for moms of more than 1...) - Page 2

I had the movie-like gush at 36 weeks and a few days around the time I was having very minor contractions (like 6-7 minutes apart, and I was doing house work inbetween them). I guess I just assumed that's how it goes for a lot of people, but looks like it isnt all that common.

1st -c/s before labor-no breakage (twins)
2nd-broke during transition
3rd-broke while sleeping in very early labor (did have acupuncture 18 hours before to help things along).
4th-broke at about 8-9 centimeters.

I hope with this baby the BOW breaks late cause it hurt a lot more when they broke early. Must take vitamin C...

both broke during pushing time

Mine break late as well. Dd was a bit earlier, maybe 3 hours before she was born, but she was posterior.

The other two broke right before they were born.

My water has only broken during the push the baby out part, one of my ds was born with his bag intact and swimming in his water.

I have always been jealous of mamas who have their water break before that part.

I always fantasize about being at the grocery store and my water breaking lol..

I want to be standing somewhere and then look at my dh and say "my water broke!" lol lame I know.

My first two were induced, and I don't remember when my water was manually broken with either (though both were).
#3 spontaneously ruptured the morning after her due date when I was using the bathroom. The one and only time that girl ever had good timing!
#4 ruptured just before pushing

Oh I got a good chuckle over that... that IS good timing.

both of mine broke first and then labor started several hours later. With DD2 I supplemented with vitamin C to prevent it from breaking early and it did anyways.

Here's the link between vitamin C and amniotic sacs. Makes me wish I hadn't slacked off on my vitamins lately!

Both of mine broke just before I started pushing. With DD, I was just starting to feel pushy and it broke. With DS, my midwife had just checked me, I arrived at the hospital thinking I wasn't that far along (cx stalled in the car), I was a 9 with bulging water. I stood up after the check, had two huge contractions, water broke with the second, then started pushing. I've also though the movie-like breaking of water would be fun, but been grateful for less dramatic and messy events!

Broke while pushing all 3 times.

Years ago, I heard the stats are 1 in 4 women has their water break before labor. Since the group of friends I was a part of had the first baby born with an early water break, the rest of us were safe.

For me:

#1 - officially AROM in hospital (without permission or notice, just noted on hospital computer) during check at triage; I was 5-6cm at the time

#2 - water broke on its own after pushing had begun (home birth)

#3 - water broke in what felt like transition, but was only 6cm at the time; baby was born 18 minutes later!

I remember reading about the Vitamin C/strong bag of waters link, but I can't remember now if I took extra C last time. I don't think I'll worry too much about it breaking early this time, though!

My bag of water did not break natually with either of my children. My first was an AROM at 9cm. My second child was born in the caul (bag of water did not rupture). I remember the L&D nurse and my husband breaking it as soon as she came out. I expect this baby will be very similar and was discussing this with my midwife yesterday.

That's interesting, I hadn't heard that. In my case, the water broke pre-labor, and I had a sunny-side-up baby (no belly labor, no back labor-- all crushingly painful hip labor).

Hehehe, it's not always that exciting. Mine broke in the middle of the night and it took my second half-asleep trip to the bathroom to realize that I wasn't peeing myself (for a first-timer at 36 weeks-- expecting to go late-- and whose mother had her water AROM right before pushing with all three of her kids-- it took a while for it to really sink in).

With my son my water broke at home at 38 weeks and contractions started right away and he was born a few hours later. I am hoping my water breaks again with this baby that is due in May because I will know for sure I am in labor.

With both of mine, my water broke at the beginning of labor, at about 4 am when I was in bed. I guess I was in early labor at the time that they broke, but real labor seemed to start after my water broke.

LOL! Both times my water broke as we were already in bed for the night and DH wad already asleep. At least the second time I had gotten out of the bed first, so the bed didn't get soaked. Anyway, I spent my whole second pregnancy wondering how it would be to justgo into labor w/o any warning, since I didn't figure my water breaking would kick it off again. I was so excited to experience it that way. If I ever get pg again, I'll just assume I'm going to be waking DH to tell him my water broke again.

My water was broken at 4cm with my daughter (my first) and with DS didn't break until his entire head was out (the midwife broke them at that point).
