Caitlin is having another eeg tomorrow wish us luck please

well like the title says tomorrow morning caitlin is going for another eeg they want her to be asleep this time though so i've had to try keeping her up late so i kept her up till about 10pm and i have to wake her early in the hopes she will sleep for it but i really don't see it happening she often doesn't go straight to sleep at bed time so stays up late most of the time any way the only thing that it will do is make her extra grumpy *sigh* the letter also says she needs to have a good size breakfast i'm assuming this is so she doesn't get hungry while they are doing the eeg as it will take 2-3 hrs and they are hoping she will sleep for it.
has anyone else's lo's had to have an eeg done while asleep? and if so did you manage to get them to sleep through it?

DS1 had one last fall. We were instructed to keep him up until midnight and then wake him up at 5 am. The appointment was at about 9 am I think. What I actually did was kept him up until a bit after 1 am. DH went to bed early, and then got up with DS a bit after 6 (so still 5 hours total sleep for DS, we just adjusted the hours a bit because we are sooo not morning people!).

After they got up, DH took DS out to a restaurant for a big breakfast (something we almost never do, so it was a big treat and killed some time before the appt). Plus it made DS full and sleepy The appt itself was fine, no problems getting DS to go to sleep (and he's not normally quick to fall asleep either).

Take along a comfy pillow from home and a favourite stuffed animal if your DD would like that

My daughter is 4 1/2 and as had probably 50 EEGs. She has intractable epilepsy. Alot of her EEGs have been over night. They do over night EEG's because the brain tends to be more active while sleeping...

Are you not doing a 24 hour EEG? If its just a 2-3 hour EEG I would keep her up LATE... so that way she is exhausted for the next day!

Alivia had one done at around 1 year. We took her to Chucky Cheese for the first time, went late, and didn't end up going to bed until about 10 PM, which was late for her. We had probably the first morning appointment. We also got up a few hours before, went shopping at the 24 hour Walmart, had breakfast at Perkins, and by the time the needed her asleep, it was already "time" for her morning nap and she was exhausted from not sleeping well the night before.

I kept her up later than usual and got her up at 7am she had 2 bowls of cereal and was tired but refused to go to sleep the letter did say 2-3 hours but we were out in less than 1, i'm only hoping they can get something from it the lady doing the eeg said because she seemed a bit drowsy it should be ok but i'm not so convinced, she gave caitlin a toy windmill to blow on in the hopes she would get out of breathe and tired but it only made her start laughing, she's been pretty hyper all day though with the exception of being a little grumpy first thing this morning.
Should hopefully find out her results in about a week.

she's had 8 in total 6 with a fever 2 without her 1st was 6 mths and only lasted about 5-10 mins her last one was about 6 wks ago and lasted over 45 mins.

we only do sleep deprived EEGs, which are hell, so i dont have anything to add, but wanted to say.... so sorry your little girl is going through this.

Thanks, i'm only hoping they don't decide she needs another because she never actually went to sleep. If they do i'll have to try keeping her up even later and get her up earlier and maybe do like pp's and take her somewhere for breakfast.

I hope they don't want another for quite some time! We have to do an annual, sleep deprived EEG. This means we keep my now 11 year old son up ALL NIGHT LONG and when we get to the hosital to do the EEG, it always takes a long time and we are waiting in a desserted hallway - trying not to sleep because he isn't supposed to fall asleep during the EEG! Its near impossible, but somehow we make it fun and he looks forward to it each year.

That must be hard, they wanted caitlin to sleep for her eeg but she had other ideas. At the moment i'm just not so patiently waiting for her results, i was told it will be at least a week so i'll phone the hospital on thursday, if i can hold on till then. I just really want to know what's going on .
