sanitize cycle?

My washer has a sanitize cycle, and I'm wondering if it's ok to use it for my diapers. It basically gets really hot and is supposed to kill 99.9 percent of bacteria (which I'm thinking would be ideal for poop!). I just don't want to damage them.

What kind of dipes are you using? My washer has a sanitize cycle too and I only use it every now and then because it is very hard on my prefolds. It does what it is supposed to do though.

I also found that I never needed to use it while DS was EBF, but once we introduced solids wheeeeeew! So now the prefolds get a sanitary spin about once a month.

That's the cycle I use - with an extra rinse at the end. I honestly never thought about it being harder on the diapers, but that makes sense.

Fitteds and wool, but we have some fuzzi buns too. I was thinking about it for the mf stuffers and the cotton fitteds.

Oh yeah, and nbo bf poop for us! Its pretty gross! We will have 3 in diapers here in about 6 weeks, unless by some miracle the 2 yo gets over her fear of the toilet! So hoping to make things easier and less stinky. I just got this machine. It also has a steam cycle, which works out a lot of stains. Just thought the odors might be helped with the extra hot water.

The sanitize cycle is the one that I run about once a month or so - if I start getting stink issues.

I wouldn't run PUL through it though. I just have fitteds/prefolds, but eventually it will start beating them up too.

I've never used the Sanitize cycle since it's hotter than the recommended temp that came in the Green Mountain Diaper guide...but I might throw our prefolds and gro baby liners in for one super wash now that I hear others use it. Not the covers or our bumGenius though.
