Finding out the sex at 14 weeks? Is it possible?

I have an US today and am dying to know if it is a boy or girl. Do you think the tech will be able to tell?

We found out with my son at 16 weeks...maybe

I had a us at 13 weeks and she could see nothing sticking out and clearly saw the three little lines. She said girl for sure (but don't spend money on it she said!) then at our 20wk ultrasound they said for sure positive a girl!

at 13/14 weeks a boy and girl can look awfully similar. I would not start buying anything based on what they see until you get it confirmed.

at 15 weeks I was told girl. Shes def a she!

thought I would add that earlier at around 10 weeks my ob guessed boy but I told her that wasnt it was too early and that boys and girls look the same at this stage and she said well thats my educated guess. Her guess was wrong.

It depends on the quality of the US machine. I went in for an US at 13 weeks on the dot to rule out twins with my last pregnancy. The doc who did the scan is a perinatologist who does US all day long. He said that he was 95% certain she was a girl and got a shot of her girly parts that was amazingly clear. Went back at 28 weeks to check on a placenta issue and sure enough, she was still a girl!

At our 12 week ultrasound, they said that they thought we were having a girl (according to nub theory or the "angle of the dangle"). It was confirmed at 20 weeks (and again at 32 weeks).

An experienced tech with a good machine can give you a pretty good "guess." It's more accurate later on, though.

We were told our tech was "positive" she was a girl, and this was at 14 weeks. At 20 weeks, one other tech and one doctor both also said girl. I suppose we won't know for sure until she's born, but anyway, they told us with confidence at 14 weeks, for whatever that's worth.

Well, she wasn't really able to tell. First she thought it was a girl, but then the babe changed position and she was leaning more toward boy. so we have to wait!

I don't know. I was told at an early ultrasound (can't remember the exact timing now, but it was at the end of the first trimester or very early in the second, so probably about 14 weeks) that DD1 was a boy. So I went and named her a boy's name, and got all excited about "my son," only to find out at an ultrasound later on that she was, in fact, a girl. And I'll tell you that I nearly cried, when they told me she was a girl-- I'd gotten so attached by then to the boy I imagined was coming.

So I agree that while they might be able to offer an opinion, I wouldn't go taking the tags off clothes yet.

Me too, with all 6 of mine. I have found out at the NST which is done in the 12th week. Obviously 5 have been proven correct and #6 is now 22 weeks and has been confirmed girl at every u/s since (I have lots....)

At our 13 week US, the tech was pretty sure it was a boy. She was right.

I think you have your answer.

My midwife told me they are able to find out much sooner nowdays because ultrasound equipment has really come a long way.

In fact, she told me I should get my U/S between 15 & 18 weeks. I was surprised, as with my other babies, they wanted me to wait until 18-20 weeks.
