DS's hay-fever is really bad to day (mine too) so I decided to keep him out of school. He was OK with this when I was calling his school to tell them, but now he's really upset about it. I was even planning to take us to the shore (much less pollen right next to the ocean) but he's still upset about missing school.

But I just want to go to school

I think you should let him go if he just has allergies and he really wants to go. If he is going to have hay fever a lot then he may just need to go to school with it and learn how to deal with the misery of allergies. I had nasty hay fever almost all the time as a child because I was allergic to our cats and some seasonal things and it was miserable, but I also learned how to live beyond the misery so I could enjoy school and my friends.
