Nose Bleeds?

My son is struggling right now with seasonal allergies and eczema. He has been having nose bleeds off and on.

Well 2:30 this morning I had gotten up to go potty and he came flying in the bathroom with a gushing nosebleed. It took me 30 minutes to get it stopped. Which is real fun when you are half asleep.

Anyhow, I know it's due to allergies. But could his nose also be infected? There is no way he would use a neti pot or saline rinse bottle (which is what I have). He is 6 and that would freak him out.

To stop the bleeding fast....there is a product called Nosebleed ER. You can check your local pharmacy, but lately I've had to get them online. They come two applications to a package, and you only need one of those per nosebleed. It is a stick applicator (foam-ended) that you dip into the clotting powder. Then you apply that to the place up in the nostril that's bleeding. Usually works for me, and I have a bleeding disorder. (This is NOT the circular roll of stuff you just stick up there and leave. You don't have to leave the applicator up there at all, once it's slowed down. The clotting powder does the work.)

Has he ever been checked for a bleeding disorder by a hematologist? Or do you think it's just from him reopening his nose wound by picking it? Does he blow his nose? Maybe too much of that? Maybe he's got a scab up there that he's reopening?
