Matching appliances

We're trying to decide which appliances to replace when we remodel our kitchen. Maybe someone can give me opinions. It may also help to know that we will probably move in the next 5 years, so I'm also thinking resale value.

Our dishwasher is totally white and 6 years old. Still works and looks newish. Our fridge was here when we moved in 6 years ago, but looked pretty new. It is a totally white, freezer on top, with a white handle. Our stove definitely needs to be replaced.

We could get by with just replacing the stove, but I really don't like white stoves. I prefer the look of stainless steel stoves. Would it look weird having a white dishwasher right next to a stainless steel stove? Or should we replace all of our appliances with steel ones?

I don't think it looks that strange to not having matching appliances. I wouldn't replace them if they still worked just because they were a different color.

When we moved in, we got a hand me down fridge that was yellow, a hand me down stove that is white and the dishwasher that came with the house was black. Not wonderful, but they worked. We've replaced the fridge with white and the dishwasher with white, but the fridge was a gift and we did pick white. The dishwasher we bought ourselves and again picked white. I'd love to have all stainless steel, but I don't see any point in switching over just because I like it.

We have a white fridge and a white stove, but were recently given a stainless dishwasher. I think that because our knobs and handles on the cupboards and the taps are brushed nickel, the dishwasher doesn't really stick out at all.

This is exactly what our kitchen is like! When our dishwasher died we got stainless steel because we figured each time an appliance dies we will get stainless steel to replace the white (although I am hoping we will not be in this house long enough to replace them all). It looks really good with our brushed nickel faucet, knobs, and pulls. I do make sure that when I get stainless steel things for my kitchen (coffee maker, toaster, and even panini maker) that it doesn't have too much black in it because then it looks mismatched with my white appliances.
