Anyone talk to me about the ADOS test?

Had a reevaluation with my son yesterday at Kennedy Krieger.

They say they think its just a language issue rather than a spectrum issue. Hmmm, I just honestly don't know what to think anymore. I feel like I just can't communicate what I'm seeing to them properly.

We have an ADOS scheduled now.

Can anyone tell me about this test - is it more reliable? when is this one used as opposed to others? etc etc?

THanks for your help

The ADI-ADOS is widely considered the most thorough and accurate diagnsotic protocol for autism in the USA. Here's an FAQ about it from the University of Michigan, where one of the authors is based. I chose the ADI-ADOS for my DS1's diagnosis because my DH wouldn't accept any assessment that could be considered subjective. The results of these tests really helped him wake up from denial and opened the door to many services for our DS1. It is an expensive and time-consuming series of tests & interviews (9 hours spread over 3 days for us), so that's why certain doctors & clinics do not use it, or use only a portion of it.
