Just had to share!

So I tried gardening for the first time last year and learned a lot to say the least.

This year I am using what I have learned and trying it again. I am doing raised beds this year, I got the ground turned with a pitch fork and have soil and manure to mix in with it all.

The turning of the ground I did today along with scrapping the grass and roots off the top (with a snow shovel, thanks honey for loosing my garden shovel lol) I am beat but so excited that everything is underway and I can start planting!!!

Just had to share in my excitement.

You can join in with your exciting accomplishments as well!

Hey, Katie! I'm in Iowa, too!

I planted my lettuce, carrots, and potatos this week. I got them in late for the season, but I'm hoping to still get a little out of them!

My 10 heirloom tomato plants came in the mail last night (I have 10 more started in flats). I'm going to go get my t-posts for the Florida weave, and the cattle panels for my trellises on Saturday. Since we're getting rain today, I'm not sure when I'll be able to put those up. However, I have a little portable greenhouse that I can keep the plants in until it's clear enough to plant.

Nice! Have you read "Square foot gardening"? It is a really good 'basic' book. It has a lot of pictures He acts like you have to do "Square foot gardening' to the letter or it really isn't a SFG. I think that's hooey. You can take the pieces you like and leave the rest.
