So, I had this plan to do "something" with the placenta after my daughter was born. Probably plant a tree. The placenta sat in the freezer for four months after the birth, at which point we made rather spontaneous plans to move across the country (USA) and naturally on moving day I re-discovered the placenta sitting in a bag in the freezer. Not knowing what else to do with it, we put some freezer packs around it and took it with us. It spent its nights in the hotel freezers, being packed back into the car during the days, until the day that we left it. In the hotel room freezer. Big OOPS.
The hotel won't mail it - apparently it's classed as a hazardous material. It feels like it would be disrespectful to just have them throw it in the trash, especially after it's come so far. So, is there anyone who would be willing to go to Limon, Colorado and retrieve it from the hotel and then bury it beside a tree somewhere? I know it's a big stretch from your own placenta to someone else's but I'm just hoping there's someone who feels the importance of honoring my baby and/or not wasting a valuable natural resource? The hotel is awaiting instructions on what to do with it so I'm hoping I can find a lovely courageous volunteer soon!
