Consuming the Placenta - Qs

My plan for this birth is to encapsulate the placenta, hoping it will help with my chronic low milk supply issues. My midwife also suggested making a tincture because the capsules will run out at some point, and I'm considering it (even though it icks me out, I'm *hoping* I can handle the capsules). But I'm wondering if the hormones will actually be preserved properly in a tincture. Anyone know?

My other questions are about Fiona's placenta, which has been in my freezer for almost two years. It's wrapped in chux and in a big ziploc. I'm assuming that it's no longer fit for consumption, anyone know? I don't want to bother defrosting it and encapsulating it if the freezing has degraded it too much to be worthwhile, and I also don't know whether it being wrapped in chux makes it unsafe to consume.

Thanks so much!

I would presume that the 2 year old one would not be safe, just as 2 year old meat wouldn't be.

For the tinture you apparently put the placenta (or some of it) in a jar and cover it with distilled water. It needs to totally cover the placenta with none sticking out. You put it in the sun for 4-8 hours. Then you take the placenta out and top the bottle up with vodka. To use it you mix a 1:1 ratio of water and vodka and add 10 drops of the placenta water mix.
