I used Crystal Rock for a few months. It worked okay at first, but then it got to the point where I was STINKING by midday... bleh.
Then last summer, I didn't use anything.... that went well enough for a while and I started stinking again (for some reason, I tend to sweat and stink more in cool/cold weather.
Since fall I have been using just plain old baking soda (does that count as homemade), sometimes with some eo (usually lavendar) sprinkled in. And that has been working really well. I rarely have stinky days any more.
I still have the crystal rock stick, but won't be going back to it.

That's great, thanks! I went deodorant free all winter, and I've been impressed with how much less I stink this summer than last. Like all the toxins that were trapped in by antiperspirant have been "freed" so now when I sweat it's not terribly stinky. BUT, I live in the Deep South, and it gets hot! So, I'm sweaty again. Perhaps once the pools open, and I spend most of my time with other mama friends at the pool it won't be as big of a deal, but I don't want to be the stinky mama at the playground! Lol.

This is the very best natural deoderant I've ever found. It's homemade, just not in your home!
I have tried a million different deoderants and this is the only one that works during my period and when I've been working out hard. It's amazing!

I started mixing baking soda into whatever body cream I have around a couple of years ago, about 1 part soda to 2 parts cream, just enough so that it is still creamy. Works better than anything else I have ever tried. With regular use, I find we can skip days sometimes and still smell fresh.
If I ever run out of body cream, I will definitely try using coconut oil.
I make it and store it in old dipe cream containers or screw top lid containers so it is handy for gym bags, etc.
I cannot imagine ever buying deodorant again, honestly.
