Hi there....a friend of mine is about to have her second baby and I'd like to put together a food basket for her. She and her son have some allergies...hers are gluten, dairy and and eggs i think and her son is corn and dairy. What are some yummy foods that I can put together for them to munch on after the baby comes??

That's a really sweet idea - the first step would be to find out for sure what foods they react to, and the second thing would be to find out how sensitive they are (e.g. is cross contamination an issue - some people react to food cooked in a pan that has ever had gluten in it, for example).

Yes, cross contamination could be a big issue. I know with my dd's allergies I would never trust anyone to cook food for her because of cross contamination. Perhaps you could offer to buy the ingredients and then cook it in her kitchen. With that I would feel comfortable.

Nuts, raisins, figs, dates, fruit, vegan goodies that are GF for her, and corn free for the child. Also peanut butter and GF/corn free crackers, soy yogurt. These are a few I can think of off the top of my head.

Fabulous idea but I might go with pre packaged foods so you don't have to worry about cross contamination issues. I know I would love to get a basket full of enjoy life products. Not only are they allergy friendly but they're healthy convenience foods !
