Names ?

What do you think of Vivienne Cecilia for a girl and Elijah Atticus for a boy?
This site really needs a baby naming forum! lol
post #2 of 29
I like Vivienne; I think it's pretty and feminine. One of my colleague's sons is named Elijah, and he's a brilliant, energetic little boy.

Is Vivienne pronounced just like Vivian?

Lovely names and not trendy.
I like it, but would just spell it Vivian. Vivienne looks like a high-born lady from a romance novel. Or a French can-can dancer.

Elijah is a good name, too.

(I didn't weigh in on middle names because I don't think it matters what they are or how they "go with" the first name. Barely a soul will know, much less use the middle name.)

I think they are good names! I don't love Atticus, but as a middle name I think it's fine (I have friends who used it as a first name, and I just think it's a difficult name).

IMO, Vivienne is much prettier than Vivian. And I love Elijah!

I like your name choices!

Honestly, I would go with Atticus as a first name. We also used it as a middle name, and ds has repeatedly said he wishes it was his first name. I agree with him...I wish we'd had the balls to do it.

Vivienne is very pretty, and we're considering Vivian, but be aware that it is trendy right now...Angelina Jolie's baby was named Vivienne, and I see that spelling quite a bit (probably) because of it. Another option, and actually the "correct" English feminine spelling of Vivian, is Vivien (as in Vivien Leigh).

I love those names! Classic, yet fresh. Fresh, yet not weird. Great balance!

RedOakMomma, despair not about your middle name usage of Atticus. I loved my first son's middle name. As the years went by, I wished so much that we had used it as a first name.

Thirteen years later we had our third son... and named him our first son's middle name. Like a previous poster said, no one knows what a person's middle name is. So no one who meets my boys know that they share a name. To others, they are just "Sam" and "Joe" (names changed to protect the innocent). No one knows that Sam is Samuel Joseph.

As you can see by my sig, I approve of your girl choice which is my name
Spelled with an "e" is the fem version and with an "a" is the masculine.
I have always loved my name and Cecelia is gorgeous. I will admit I was bummed that Miz Jolie named her daughter Vivienne b/c I fear it will become more popular but such is life!
We have a name picked for our daughter that was pretty rare and is getting more popular now...oh well...we love it!

Atticus is a great name too good choices mama! Elijah I am kinda eh on. I guess I am just not into Biblical type names and seems there are lots of Elijahs around.

Beautiful names Mama!!! them!!

Great names. I'm having a hard time with picking names here....
I love Vivienne! And spelled exactly the way you did-beautiful! But I don't love Vivienne Cecilia...For some reason I feel they oppose each other...of course thats my personal feeling..and I probably look at names quite differently because my first language is Russian and that is where I grew up-totally different names over where I come from!!

I do love both names. But I feel they are both very powerful and strong and because of that they clash. I feel a slightly shorter middle name would flow better with Vivienne.

I love Atticus, but Elijah is very popular around here and that would make it a little less desirable for me. I can think of 3 friends with sons named Elijah off the top of my head. I also love Vivienne but agree with the pp that combined with Cecilia (also love) the flow isn't the best. Good luck, you have picked really great names.

I would also choose Atticus over Elijah. I also agree about Vivienne Cecilia not flowing. I would use Vivienne in a second but we already have a Maddox and we might look like Brangelina groupies!

Are you going to say "VIV-ian" or "viv-i-EN"? The French spelling would make me put the accent on the last syllable.

Don't worry OP, coffeegirl is here! lol

Anyhow, ok. Yeah I like both your name choices. I probably would go with Vivian as well, over Vivienne, and would probably call her Vivi. (that's just me tho- it's such a cute nickname!) And I've always liked Elijah for a boy.

My name is spelled the former and my nickname is Vivi
Vivian with an "a" is the traditional masculine spelling in Britain...think the punk rocker from "The Young Ones" tv show.

I wanted to add I do love Cecelia but combined with Vivienne, Cecile has a better flow.

I have always loved Vivienne and am truely bummed out that she named her daughter Vivienne. I hope it does not become popular!

I like Vivienne Cecile, but Vivienne Cecilia flows better paired with my last name.
Thank you though!
