bras

Hi, I'll be ten weeks tomorrow and my bras already feel uncomfortably snug. I'm hesitant to buy new ones already when I assume my size will be changing again in the near future. How many bra sizes are typically needed during pregnancy?
Thanks for the info.

i bought 2 bras right around 10 weeks....and haven't needed another size yet. i'm currently 30 weeks. that's just my story though. some women in my ddc have gone through several sizes. imho it's worth being comfortable! buy a bra or 2 :-)

also--i bought nursing bras. that way i can wear them with baby. no underwire, super comfy.

I have a large selection of bras in all different sizes due to my ever changing breasts... I wore 3 different sizes while pregnant with dd1, the newer two I bought were nursing bras. I had to buy 2 different nursing bras after birth too, so I bought 6 bras in all (2 of each after birth). However, the easiest thing is to go bra free if possible. After the baby is born, it helps so much with breastfeeding and good supply if the baby can get at them anytime, and can smell the milk easily... I only wear a bra very occasionally now like if I am wearing a nice shirt to go somewhere special... so I have worn one 4 times in the last 2 years...

I only bought one bra, one cup size bigger, somewhere around 12 weeks, and once I out grew most of my other bras I just cycled through 2 bras (the new one and one old stretched out one). Now, at 34 weeks, I just went and bought a nursing bra that is sized to fit a couple of band sizes and a few cup sizes. The lady at the baby shop helped fit me so that I had enough room to grow a band size and at least a cup size, and she suggested that I wait until a month or two of nursing to purchase any more nursing bras because sizes will fluctuate a lot until BF is routine. My new bra is Bravado brand, and I tried on a number of different styles till I found the perfect one (all Bravado though because of the easy-fit).
That being said, a friend of mine who is 12 weeks has already gone up almost 2 cup sizes, which is the max I've gone up in 34!

I think I had to buy bras 4 times with DD. The first time was at only 6 weeks. Then again 3 more times. I think it's different for everyone but I had big breasts to begin with (36D first pregnancy) and they just got HUGE. I'll never forget when my milk came in. They literally looked like watermelons. Thankfully they didn't stay that big.

I would go ahead and just invest in 2 bras. Like the pp said, you want to be comfortable. And I never went back down to my pre-pregnancy size so you might need the bras sometime in the future.

My friend is very small (32A) but she went up to a 34A permanently after her first child.

I got some bra extenders as a stop-gap until I need to buy new ones and they work great so far. Hopefully they'll last me for a while. If you're spilling out of your cups they may not work, but if it's just uncomfortable snugness, I'd highly recommend the extenders. I think I paid $7 for three of them.

I was 32-C to start, at 18 weeks I bought 36-D... not long enough... at 20 weeks bought 38-D... these should last awhile. FWIW!

I'm on my 5th different size of bra, and I'm at 27 weeks. I stopped buying fancy ones long ago -- I just go to Target, buy one, and wash it as often as I can, knowing the size may change soon. Oh, and I've only gained 8 pounds, so it's not like the rest of me is getting huge -- just my boobs and belly.
