orgasmic childbirth

is this a myth?

and on a related note has anyone tried sex during labour? I've heard that it can set things going again if they start to slow down?

I tried to initiate sex in early labor but didn't think it was actual labor. I thought I was prodromaling my way toward labor. Our DS1 & 2 decided to interrupt so when didn't get very far. The contractions were very sensual and enjoyable. When I felt the urge to push I instinctively put my hands on my vulva and wound up stimulating my clitoris. It wasn't like sex but it made things continue to feel good.

I tried stimulating my clitoris during labor as a way to make the pain less and maybe help make the contractions even more effective. I didn't do it for very long because it actually made me come out of laborland...but now that we're going to HB, I think I might try some early labor sex...bet DH will be happy to get the last minute nookie!

In one of the homebirth videos I watched while pregnant, one of the births featured was an orgasmic/ecstatic birth. That mama said" "and then the contractions were coming one after another, right on top of each other, these great rolling orgasms" and the look on her face was the pain/bliss "o" face for sure. Myself, I went into labor while having sex- the first contraction took hold right as I climaxed- but that was the only orgasmic moment.

I wonder if I am excluded from this possibility because I don't have gspot/internal orgasms? I am not trying to be overly graphic, really, but nothing internal ever quite gets me there and I feel that orgasmic birth is unlikely for me because of it.

^^^ Birth As We Know it. You can watch the part in the movie, and yes she's very obviously enjoying herself, and then if you go and watch the commentary, that's where she talks about it, and it's amazing watching her describe it.

There is a video called "Orgasmic Birth." I just received it from Netflix, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

I've had sex in early labor with more than one of my kids. Interestingly enough, the two pain free births are some of the ones where I didn't! But those were pain free, not orgasmic. It's my understanding that you don't have to be the g-spot kind of gal to have an orgasmic birth. Sometimes in a birth a contraction can hit just right, and it will stimulate your clitoris as well. Sounds weird but it can happen. For example, my period cramps are actually a strong ache in my thighs not in my side or uterus. My labor pains, during part of my births, follow the same pattern. My uterus is doing the work, but I feel the sensations in my upper thighs. So even though one part of the body is doing the work, another part can feel the pain or pleasure of it. Dentists deal with displaced pain all the time. It's not unusual to find that a tooth a person thinks is killing them is actually healthy and a tooth that wasn't bothering them at all is actually the source of their discomfort.

My contractions were painless up until the very end when my water broke and pushing started. Before my water broke the contractions felt like really tight climaxing squeezes. It was the exact same squeeze you get from an orgasm, only WAY more intense...but it wasn't extremely pleasurable like an orgasm. It was the same sensation but so intense it was beyond an orgasm, if that makes any sense...

I had watched orgasmic birth and I was open to it. It didn't happen for me though.
Would have been nice

Could be that you've never really found your g-spot. I thought the same until one partner figured out the right touch.

I'm not surprised that orgasm might happen during birth. You've got a big wave of pressure passing your g-spot in a way that nothing has before ... you've got uterine contractions (which are essential to orgasm) ...

I admit the thing I regret most about my upcoming labor is that Daddy is an "ex" and now a very very good friend, and part of our mutual respect is not going there ... otherwise we'd have an awesome time at least trying to see if we could mix sensations. What better way to beat back the urge to close up from the pain?

Not a myth. Didn't happen to me until I had several very positive g-spot experiences though. In fact, after the first of those, I started crying (which freaked out my partner) because it was so good, and yet, so much like birthing!

The movie Orgasmic Birth is fantastic. I think only one of the women featured had an actual orgasmic birth... I think the others were just beautiful births. They had a film of the one lady having her orgasmic birth, and I found it a bit uncomfortable to watch because it seemed like I was invading her privacy. She was so cute later on, blushing and describing the experience, though. She said she never expected it to happen.

It happens... not to me, yet, but I have hopes for #4.
