vases/pots

I have three pots or vases, not exactly sure what you would call them, that I have from my grandmother's house. I like them, but right now they have artificial flowers in them. I want to get rid of the artificial flowers, but I am not sure how I would use the vases. They are too big to put fresh flowers in. They are 9, 12, and 18 inches tall, but even the shorter ones are pretty big around. Plus, I just can't imagine having that amount of flowers to fill them up. So, what would you do with them to make them a useful item? The tall one is not quite tall enough for umbrellas, and I only have one umbrella like that anyway and it stays in the closet. I am imagining that if I don't have an actual use for them, they will get knocked over or get really dusty inside. One of them is one of those old wash basin/pitcher sets. The other two are just large floral-print vases.

Lamps?

Could you use the 9 inch one as a straw holder?

Oooh, lamps, that could be neat, although I have no idea how to do that!

What do you mean by straw holder? What type of straw?

Oh, do you mean drinking straws? This would hold like a couple of thousand or more straws. It's only nine inches tall but it's like really big around, it's a really big pot like vase.
Or maybe you mean something else!

The big one is shaped exactly like this one, but it's a little bit bigger, and a different print. But same shape. It is the kind of thing that would sit on the floor with something really tall in it. She had artificial flowers in it, but I don't like artificial flowers because they just get dusty.

Then there is the one that is a basin and washing pitcher type set. It looks a lot like this one, but it has a floral print on it and it is more of an antique:

And then the other shorter one is very wide, more like a bowl, with a wider opening, but still has a rim at the top, so it's not completely open like a bowl. Can't find one that looks like that one.

if you like them for decor, go ahead and use them that way. you can keep them empty or put things like curly willow or other interesting branches that you might like.

Not sure if this idea is any use at all, but I use small vases/pots for keeping pens in, and larger ones for paintbrushes. Mainly because I don't keep fresh flowers as they make me sneeze, but the vases make attractive holders on the desk.

That is a good idea, too, although these are way too big for that, they would just be swallowed up.

Thanks!

could you put live plants in them?
Maybe if they are too deep, fill them partway with rocks and then fill the rest with potting soil and/or a plastic flower pot
