just starting - 6th grade

So we will be adopting a sixth grader and may homeschool. he seems interested in the idea but with my current kids i have a very waldorf approach but i don't think that will work out well with him. he is very unit study - ish. any curriculum ideas out there i could look into? (secular so the state program will help buy it)
i was thinking i would also use most of sonlights 6th grade books via library.

ARE their unit based curriculum in a box?

I'd suggest Moving Beyond the Page. If he's a very dedicated reader, you might want one a year or so beyond his age. We love it, and I have 3 different age levels here in the house (all lower than what you want) if you wanted to see what it comes with.

If he's not a super-reader, then MBTP at his level (or even a level below, since they go by age level, not grade) would work.

My older 2 do the Sonlight thing via library, as well! And then they just read the books and write something about each book (or whichever ones take their fancy). Works out nice...and cheap!

Congrats!

love, p
