Mind if I join? I have been a lurker and infrequent poster. My guess date was April 20th so that makes me 5 days overdue. My DD was born by scheduled c/s due to breech presentation so I didn't labor with her.
I am excited to go into labor naturally but am getting so impatient. lol It's like, am I suppose to do something to go into labor? I thought your body just started when it was time! I've been doing the walking, sex, tea, etc.. to no avail. Since I will be having a hospital vbac with midwives I am somewhat on a clock. I will get an u/s on Tues (41 weeks), they will break my water at 42 weeks if baby is in good position and see what happens. I am still pretty physically comfortable but soooo ready to meet this little girl! Thanks for reading my book! ![]() Amber |

I used to think the best part of being a homebirth mama is that I don't have to worry about rushing to the hospital. But...this is a little ridiculous!

I just read a reference to a 1990 study that said that the average time people are pregnant is 41 weeks. The 40 week myth was started by a German OB in the 1800s - the jerk. Read that in The Thinking woman's guide to better birth).
Stupid due dates. I've stopped answering my phone and have flat out told family members to stop asking. It's not like I'm going to "Forget" to tell them that I had the baby. |

I'm officially off the island. As yet unnamed boy was born at 3:32 am 4/26 after about four hours of labor. Pushing took about 15 minutes.

I've had contractions on and off -- varying from "meh" to "crush the hand of the person next to you"

Wow, 4 hours of labor and 15 minutes of pushing? We really hate you. ![]() Seriously, though, congrats!! ![]() ![]() |
I pushed for 3.5 hours with my last child - almost the length of my entire labor this time. To be fair, pushing may have lasted closer to 30 minutes, but it wasn't nearly as long as with the last three babies (pushing stages of 2 hours, 2.5 hours and 3.5 hours). However, that doesn't mean this birth was peacful and that there wasn't a fair amount of cursing, screaming, and insistance that I wanted to go to the hospital.

Popping in to say that your story is incredibly close to mine! DD1 was s-c/s for breech & I never had labor. I just had an all-natural hospital vbac w/ a midwife & wanted to let you know that it is absolutely doable!!! I, too, was waiting and waiting around not knowing what labor would feel like, but just ready for it to happen already.
