Henna? Hair help needed. - Page 2

Isn't that the point of Henna? To be a truely permenant hair color? Or maybe I am just totally out of the loop since I never have found a need to color my hair; I want to Henna it for the conditioning benefits, not really the color, that is just a side benefit.

if that is what the OP wants then, great! She just expressed her dislike for her grownout "roots" and if she uses Henna she will still have to keep up with her roots, and there's no changing/going back.

My suggestion would be to tone the ends with a semi-permanent (on bleached hair it acts as a permanent color) color that is amonia free, that matches your natural color, or is one shade lighter. It may gradually fade out but it will look very natural.

I appreciate the caution. Thanks for the advice.

I guess that is true, if you like to change your color often or keep a dramatically different color than your natural color it would make a big difference. That is one reason that I never got into coloring my hair, just the thought of having to "touch it up" every two weeks makes me cringe. But since I would Henna for conditioning benefits and have very little to no color changes I don't guess I have to worry about that as much.

But, I have heard "touching up" Henna is different than regular coloring since you don't really need to color all the hair again and again. Although, having no experience, I really don't know that for sure.

If it is close to her natural color she won't have to worry about touch-ups as much. And touching up regular color or henna are the same, you just have to color the roots. That is why I suggested using a color that is close to her natural, if her desired result is no more maintenance.
