Math curriculem?

We have been using Singapore this year. Is there anything that has more activities than just books and books of problems? Maybe things that contain real life applications for math? We do use real life applications all the time but I was wondering if there was a curriculum that has an emphasis on that?

Or something that works on good habits to get someone on a good track for doing well in more difficult math later? Like steps to problems showing work and such?

I don't know from personal experience, but I've heard good things about Math-U-See for hands-on, tactile learning.

Thank you! I am considering Math-U-See but wasn't sure if there was anything else that does what I want

I've heard a lot of good things about Right Start math. So many that I'm actualy considering it for my 4yo to do until she's at the level to start Miquon like her big sisters.

My friend is using Math on The Level and it sounds like what you are looking for.

Depending on how old your kids are (only goes through geometry), I really like Right Start. It's very hands-on.... lots of games, etc. I'm only familiar with levels A and B, though... so I can't really talk about the higher levels. There is a good Yahoo group, though.

For older kids, I've heard excellent things about "Life of Fred."
