Two year old nurslings...

Okay, so how often are your 2 yr olds nursing? If they are older than 2, do you remember how often is was? DS seems to nurse constantly, probably every 3 hours! Day and night! He is fine not nursing if I am gone during the day, so what gives? Will this let up soon? I enjoy nursing, but this seems excessive.

My dd nurses more than every 3 hours during the day but she is night weaned. And if I don't feel like nursing or can't at the moment then I don't! I would check for molars but feel free to put limits in place too. My first choice for an older baby is always night weaning because getting good sleep is so helpful for me!

I have to admit that I was expecting a lot more often than every three hours!

I don't remember precisely when my kids got down to 3+ hours between nursings but it definatley wasn't as young twos. I know that DS didn't go 3+ hours night or day until he was well over three, though.

My kiddo will be 2 in August. She often goes more than three hours when we are busy.... but if we're around the house she will nurse pretty frequently. She still nurses at least a couple times at night, sometimes several!

My twins will be 2 in June. Up until a few weeks ago they were nursing at least every 3 hours plus night time. Now that the weather is warmer we are busier and they only nurse upon waking, before nap, upon waking from nap and bedtime plus the overnight nursings. My older dc's were easily nursing at least every 3 hours when they were this age but I find that with the twins I am not as willing to sit and tandem nurse as frequently.

DD turned two last month and is nursing just a few times a day; more if she gets hurt, scared, etc. Usually she asks first thing int he morning, before naps and bedtime, and just out of the bath (a long-running thing of ours). We cut way back after DS was born two months ago--DD had been comfort nursing for months and cannot seem to keep her teeth out of my nipples! That ahs required some limits...we night weaned around 5 months ago (my idea).

My dd is 25 months and at the moment she nurses first thing in the morning, usually before naptime (although sometimes not) and usually before bed (although sometimes not) she occasionally asks at other times. So I'd say maybe 2 or 3 times in 24 hrs - sometimes more sometimes less.

But I'm worried that she may be weaning - was planning on starting a separate thread about this

DS is 20 months, and nurses first thing in the morning, before nap, and before bed. Sometimes 1-2 more times. So, about 3-5 times a day. Our situation is a little different though, as I am 12 weeks pregnant and have almost no milk left. We recently nightweaned (which went MUCH better than I expected!) and I did start limiting daytime nursing because it is painful now. But he did just fine with all of it.

A few months ago before I got pregnant and when I was nursing on demand, he nursed about every 2-4 hours during the day and every 1-3 hours at night. Less if we were out and about, more if we were home.

My DD nursed frequently like that when she was 2. She is now 2 and 9 months. We are basically nursing 3-4x/day.

That's about how much my DD (2 yr, 8 mo) was nursing as well. Then she got sick, and it has been constant nursing. Today is day 5 with a very high fever (105), and I wish she had been nursing more before, so that I would have more milk for her now.
