Tell me they've invented some sort of magic pill that takes away morning sickness... - Page 2

For me, Zofran has helped both the nausea and vomiting. I love this pill -- it's made me feel human for the first time in weeks, and I'm starting to gain back some of the weight I lost (17 lb).

Phenergan cut down on the vomiting, but did not reduce my nausea at all.

Unisom/B6 didn't even stay down. I still try to take B6 though.

Glad you're feeling a little better, and I hope you find some relief (and rest) soon!

For anyone so sick that you can't keep liquids or pills down, it is safe to use OTC Gravol (dimenhidrinate - sp? - there are many brand names) suppositories. Just one and maybe a second later on should give you enough relief to be able to break the cycle in order to start getting fluids and oral medications in. It will also give you a nice long nap which is well deserved after puking your guts inside out.

awww hugs... from on twin mama to another the MS is AWEFUL this time.

So far eating all day long has been helpful. Cheese and crackers so I can sneak in protein. I made a fruit smoothie earlier with some protein powder and that really helped my energy.

So sorry you're feeling so bad, I was extra sick with my twins, too. I'm kind of freaking out because I'll be 5 weeks preggo tomorrow and the sickness just kicked in yesterday and it's got me a little worried there's 2 inhabitants instead of 1! I called my chiro/accupuncturist and am making an appointment ASAP. It helped with my singleton last pregnancy but I never tried it with the twins, wish I had. I second the B vitamins, I have a friend that gets really sick and that was her magic cure. Going to buy some today! Feel better.

don't get me started on Bendectin (what our Diclectin was called) being taken off the market. I can get a serious rant going about the harm that decision did to women and babies in this country. thank GOODNESS for the internet and easy access to good research over the last decade or so bringing this remedy back in use in the US although it seems the vast majority of HCP's still act like it doesn't exist. It has never been suggested to me by an OB or CNM but when I tell them I am taking it they all nod and approve. I have educated my family doc about it though, she had absoutely NO idea.

the only kind of ginger that ever helped me was raw ginger (ginger tea, gingerale, candied ginger only made things worse). i'd literally hold a piece of raw ginger in my mouth all day long. it was the only thing that ever helped.

i've heard really good things about the bradley diet.

this book: natural guide to pregnancy and postpartum health goes into great detail of nutritional ways you can support your body. the fatigue that you're having may mean that there are nutrients that you need and arent getting.

I am SOOO happy I tried Unisom+B6. I have been taking a quarter pill a couple times a day with the B6, then a half or whole at night. Amazingly I haven't had problems with grogginess. I do have at least 1 cup of coffee a day. I think because I've been on antihistamines most of my life my body is used to it.

Honestly there is no other way I could cope.

I hope you feel better soon.

I just want to add, make sure nothing else is going on.

just this past week, I was soo sick, my midwife put me on dicelction, but nothing was making me feel better. so one night it starts to hurt when I pee, well I went on antibiotics( yuck i hate taking them) and I feel so much better. still feel sick but nothing like I was.

just my experience.

I couldn't function without Unisom and it no longer makes me tired at all.

Well, they're calling me in a prescription for Zofran. I started vomiting in earnest this week.

Don't feel bad. In hospitals, according to my nurse sister, they actually register nausea on a much more serious scale than pain. Because, if you can't move, or eat, or drink, things can go downhill fast.

The most important part right now is making sure you can stay hydrated and eat something. Not to mention, not being able to move around much with kids isn't good either.

I'm glad to see so many successes with the Unisom + B6 - I tell all my patients about it, but I work in a group practice so don't always see people again right away to check in with how various things are working for them. The constipation from the Zofran can be rough - Reglan 5-10 mg 1-4 times per day is another option, not sedating, not constipating, can cause mood changes in some women but works so well for others.

I second the Reglan. I asked for it in liquid form so I could take a lower dose and still have it be effective. Didn't have any side effects. I had some success w/Zofran, but my insurance didn't want to cover it. Reglan is MUCH cheaper, so no problem there. Phenergen also made me really sleepy, which I hated, and then stopped working after a few days.

The only thing about Reglan that was a problem for me is that later my doctors put me on Lexapro in the 2nd tri, and the two interact, so I had to quit Reglan. By then, my MS was mostly gone anyway.

So sorry. But hopefully it will work as well for you as it has for other mamas! I had really bad nausea/vomiting with dd, and the wristbands did take the edge off. I doubt that they would offer much relief for HG, though. Again, hope you feel better really soon!
