Anemia? How long until iron supplements kick in?

So I'm now anemic thanks to all of last week's bleeding. I had been taking iron every other day before that. I started taking it 2x a day with C last week.

Anyone know when I will feel an improvement?

Hi mama! Has the bleeding finally stopped? What a nightmare.

All I know from my post-mc bleeding yuckiness is that I felt better by the end of the day by drinking copious amounts of nettle tea. And I felt pretty much normal about 3 days later (continuing the nettle-tea-a-thon). What does your NP say about all this? Are you still going to continue to see her after the estrogen/progesterone mix-up?

Also, you mentioned that you thought a lot of your symptoms were due to the prednisone tapering. So that might mask any improvements you'd feel from the iron supplementation.

RE: masking, that's a good point.

The bleeding has slowed a lot but still there. Going to OB today.

They think my body just hit the wall last week on the prednisone taper and that it'll be a few weeks before I feel better. If I don't then they'll test for adrenal suppression.

I have mixed feelings about it because I have to live my life. It's kind of hard to do when you don't feel well, I would rather test sooner than later to minimize my misery kwim?

It's just an all around crappy situation.

I hear ya there! I have so many weird and unrelated (or are they???) health things going on... after being pretty healthy my whole life. It definitely sucks!

Keep us posted on what the ob says.

p.s. also maybe there are things you could be doing now to support your adrenals if you have suspected adrenal fatigue (that wouldn't hurt even if you didn't)? Not that I know, but if you post a Q here there are lots of mamas who would know (as you know).

OB was fine with the lump, forgot to ask about a baseline mammogram though to be safe. ETA: Oh yeah, I had found a lump. Don't know if I mentioned that.

I'm going on the pill to stop the bleeding. Got a lot of free iron samples--OB was super super nice.

Am very tired.

Oh man, a lump too? Sounds like we have some similar stuff going on these days...

Anyway, I am very glad that she wasn't worried about the lump, glad she was nice, and glad you got some free iron supps.

Did she say that the bleeding was PCOS related?
