Riverdale Anyone?

I am moving from NJ to NY with my three children and am looking at Riverdale. Anyone live there? I have heard good things about the elementary school, P.S. 24 and not much about P.S. 81. Anyone have children at either of these schools? And what about nursery or preschools?

Any information you have would be really helpful. I am getting a divorce, so it's just me and the kids. Any other neighborhood recommendations with good public schools are also welcome (I know about Upper West Side and the great school on the East Side - the village is too expensive for us.)

I just moved to Riverdale. I don't send to either of those schools, but I've heard very good things about them.

One thing that seems to be good about Riverdale is there are a lot of families with kids and there are many opportunities to develop a strong support network.

P.S. 24 has a great reputation, so it is popular and full. They have a very strong parent's association and raise lots of money.
My step-children went to P.S. 81 some years ago. It's a good school, but the principal was a bit odd and a little less smart than I think she should have been. I don't know if she's still there. You should check out Inside Schools to get more information.
