We have 2 cordless phone systems both made by the same company. One works fine but one(the one I would prefer to use)is all static.Any ideas why this would be?or what I could do to fix it?

Thank for any help!

Get a new phone... phones are wacky and wierd, and rank only slightly lower than printers on my list of 'biggest technological pita' (we no longer have a working printer, for reference, as I'm sick of screwing with them - I goto the library and pay them $.15 a page, rather take the time to screw with stupid printers, ink cartridges, paper, etc. Its money well spent, IMO!!)

I had yo have the phone company out and for us it was an issue with the actual phone jack, the wires were bad and old.
We only have one phone, but it has 2 incoming lines, the one line was crystal clear and the other line had tons of staitc.

I would test yourself very easily before dropping more cash into a new system.

Do you have wireless internet? Some phones don't do well with wireless. New phones are better but you could also turn off the wireless when not using.

How old are the batteries in the handset?

And just realize that these things do have finite life spans. I just replaced ours last night in fact. The static had gotten so bad that it was interfering with dialing. But that phone was over 6 years old.

Did you try changing channels?

Portable phones usually have a "channel" button you can press to try different frequencies until you find one that's clear.
