Ways to recycle game boards?

I use a lot of scrabble tiles, and so I'm always on the lookout for Scrabble games at the thrift store. Usually I just throw away the game board and the 4 tile holders (I can, and do, recycle the cardboard game box, but my recycling center won't take the game boards).

Does anyone have an idea for reusing the game boards and/or the tile holders?

make a bag kind of like this? http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Book-Purse
scrabble nerds like me would be all over that.

i'm curious about what you're doing with the letter tiles?

can you repurpose the scrabble boards into another game? you know how people turn board books into scrapbooks by gluing pretty paper onto them, that sort of thing. my ds loves to make up his own board games; it would be a great kids activity

My homeschool group did a type of memo board out of game boards a couple years ago. The little kids loved it. Im sorry I dont remember all the details and the craft was by no means a 'life time keeper' IKYKWIM.

I make pendants out of them. Here is a tutorial! http://www.makeandtakes.com/links/sc...ndant-tutorial

My kids play their own version of Bananagrams with the tiles, too.
