connection with father

Hi Jaimie,
My ex-husband's relationship with our two boys is up in the air. I'm wondering if you see them staying connected with their dad and if we will all stay in the same geographical area or will we be moving to different places?

This feels like a half and half situation. I think things will continue to be strained with their Dad for many years. It's all him (your ex). He's not sure which way is up or down right now and very unfortunately he is letting his own junk block his relationships with this sons. Down the road as they get older, I feel like one of your sons, the older one I believe will want to try to live with his Dad. I feel like the other one pretty much always stays attached to you. I hate to say this, but I'm just not sure your ex is really ever going to pull it together as far as being a Dad goes.
I do not think you will stay in the same area with him forever.
