tye dye question?

For those of you who tye dye diapers...
I ordered a few fitted, pinnable white 100% cotton diapers, and have been thinking it would be cool to tye dye a couple of them. What I am wondering is this I have tye dyed in the past using this kit from Michael's can't remember the name, but it was pretty easy and worked great for tee-shirts and dresses my kids and I made. Would it be OK for diapers too? I mean once it was washed it didn't "bleed" or anything.
Also can you tye dye a wool cover that is premade? Like an Aristcrats or something like it? (I mean with the lanoline in it? Do you have to de-lanolize it??)

Thanks

I've sort of accidentally on purpose lightly dyed an artistocrat. I got it used. The mama said it needed to be re-lanolized anyway. So, since it was used I decided to wash it. And for the fun of it, washed it on hot (it already seemed pretty felted, and since its a small and going to be used on a newborn I don't mind if it shrinks a little more) with a red sweater that I'm felting for making a cover. Now the natural off-white color has a muted, reddish-pink tint to it. Even tho its for a baby boy...it doesn't seem bad. In fact, I like the soft color.

How long will it hold the "dye?" I assume at least until washed again, but I'm assuming it'll be basically that color until I wash it with something else to bleed into it. LOL.

Anyway, thats one cheapo answer: wash with things that bleed and see what happens.

I really like real tye-dye though. If I had the do-re-mi I'd get me some. As it is, I'm hoping some of my hippie friends send me some. Somehow my children have always ended up with beautifully dyed (and batik'd) clothes through the generosity of friends who dye and batik.
