I'm really concerned because a transvaginal ultrasound last week showed I have a short cervix.

Hx: I had cryosurgery and 2 D&Cs (for complicated missed miscarriage) in 2002, had DD in 2005 full term, no problems with pregnancy. Had LEEP in 2006- not severe dysplasia, was told he didn't take a large amount of tissue, and another D&C for incomplete miscarriage in 2009. Because of this, my midwife ordered the u/s to check my cervical length.

From everything I'm reading, 2.3 cm is very short for 18 wks and puts me at higher risk for preterm delivery. The nurse who relayed the message described it as "just slightly short" that they'd prefer to see it at 2.5 cm (also short for 18 wks, no?) and didn't prescribe bed rest, although I do have a level II u/s scheduled for next week and then another cervical check for 5/14.

I guess I'm wondering exactly how much this increases my risk for preterm delivery and whether modified bed rest should be considered (especially considering I have a 40+ lbs child with special needs who requires lifting to get in and out of the car).
