GE crops good for us & farmers!

FYI:

"Many U.S. farmers who grow genetically engineered (GE) crops are realizing substantial economic and environmental benefits -- such as lower production costs, fewer pest problems, reduced use of pesticides, and better yields -- compared with conventional crops, says a new report from the National Research Council. However, GE crops resistant to the herbicide glyphosate -- a main component in Roundup and other commercial weed killers -- could develop more weed problems as weeds evolve their own resistance to glyphosate. GE crops could lose their effectiveness unless farmers also use other proven weed and insect management practices."
...
"Research institutions should receive government support to develop GE traits that could deliver valuable public benefits but provide little market incentive for the private sector to develop."

Can't wait to run out & buy me some Monsanto seeds!

Yes, the problem with the world's food supply is lack of technology to make more of an inferior product. No, we don't care about the quality of the product, and no, we can't make a quality product without technology anyway.

People are starving not because their countries have been exploited by colonialists and made to grow cash crops like tea, coffee and spices that don't feed the family, and thus requiring the country to import its food and take charity donations of wheat from the USA. People are starving because they don't have the best engineered seeds and the complementary sprays!

Yes, GE seeds with their patented technology that makes seed saving illegal. What a wonderful idea. I don't care how wonderful the seeds are...I prefer to eat organic, heirloom, and open source seeds (no patents involved!). I'll give that drought tollerent wheet and rice have lessened the hunger rate in poor countries, but I really don't think that GE seeds are necessary here in the US.

I truely hope the OP was dripping sarcasm. (So hard to tell in writing)
