Hi,

I have a 5 month old boy who is 100% breastfed, today I got my period back which was not expecting to get for a long time since I been fully breastfeeing my boy. I am very disapointed since I realy hate having it always have cause its always very painfull.

Anybody else here who got the old lady this soon while fully bf the baby??

I wonder what could have caused that? Can it be just a one time thing and I might be on pause again?

It's different for everyone I was fully fertile after my first baby was 6 months old...and didn't know it until I was four months pregnant! This last time I was fertile again when baby was 14 months old.

Have you been under any extra stress lately? Or have you been nursing less the last week or so (been busy, milestones, etc.)? I got an AF at about 4 and half months (my son was EBF until 6+ months), after a few weeks of less frequent nursing (family was visiting). It didn't return again until 11 months postpartum. So it's possible it's just a fluke...

My sister & my mother in law had no delay, and were surprised I didn't have a period until 10 mos postpartum. my stepmom, though, never menstruated until after baby was fully weaned, so she was surprised i started having periods while still nursing. So, anywhere from 4weeks to about 2 years is normal, I guess.

DS is 21 months, still BF, and I haven't gotten AF yet. I'm surprised (happily) that I haven't gotten it yet.

Yes I am exclusively breastfeeding, my son is 20lb 5 month old Baby all he does is nurse...lol...this all surprises me a lot. The first things that came in my mind when I realized how well breatfeeding went, were..yay its so good for him and me, and yay no AF for a very long time and now this

I so hope it was just due some stress I been having lately, but even that is nothing to different and he eats more than ever Maybe I will be lucky and it won t come again for a while. Thanks everyone

Both my babes were EBF and I got mine back at 9 wks with DD and 7wks this time, after bleeding the entire 6 wks PP. It really varies. 6 months is the average, so there will be women like me who barely even miss AF and those who will not get it back for 2 years.

5 1/2 weeks. Seriously. It was ridiculous. Hoping it will stay away longer this time.

First AF at 4 months PP . . .DS is now 5 months and I am waiting to see if she'll show up again. I am hoping not (but hoping she doesn't because the 4 month PP AF was a fluke, not because I am really wanting to be pregnant right now) but think that I will likely have no such luck b/c DS pretty much STTN. though I've not had any O signs and I am on day 30 . . ..

so what I gather is there is no "normal" - everyone is different. which doesn't help you figure out what to expect!
