Anyone use Dr. Larry Miller in Lansdale, PA?

HI there-
I'm a former PA mom who has been living in NC for the last 5 years. My husband just accepted a job in Warminster and we're moving back to PA. I have 3 kids including a newborn.

I know about Woodmed in quakertown. We will likely be living somewhere along the 309 corridor or out toward Doylestown, Pipersville, etc. or possibly lower bucks like Churchville.

I'm anxious as we LOVE our family practice doc here. No pressure, no signing of waviers, respectful of parent choice even though he's a pretty mainstream doc. I'm looking for some options in PA. I know Kimberton has some docs and apparently maybe Doylestown. I see Larry Miller's name pop up but can't find many posts about him on MDC ??

Lansdale would be a good plan as we're renting for a year until our house down here sells, and when we go to buy we'd probably be somewhere around Hatfield, Souderton, Telford, Sellersville, Lansdale..

Any feedback on him? I'd be less concerned if I didn't have a newborn but w/ a newborn I want to make sure we have someone lined up fairly quickly for WBV (we do them but a little more spread out than typical) and in case of urgent need.

Is there some reason the Lansdale area moms aren't using him? I found an old thread and it looks like people are driving to Kimberton, etc. from Lansdale. He's listed on a few sites as non vax friendly so I assumed someone here would have had experience w/ him? Bummer.

We are looking at a few different areas, including Southampton/Ivyland/Churchville to rent a house initially. It looks like Dr. Silver in glenside might be an okay drive, or the Mt. Airy doc that a few people like. I'd prefer to head more towards Lansdale from the Churchville/Southampton area though as when it is time for us to buy vs. rent I suspect we'll be more towards Lansdale.

Any other suggestions? Getting anxious about finding someone...it is such a tough process and I'm mourning the loss of the family practice doc we see here in NC.

I live in the Lansdale area & I've never heard of Dr. Larry Miller. Maybe he just doesn't take our insurance? A quick google search showed him as being in Philadelphia at Temple University Hospital. What website did you hear about him from? We've lived here for 4 years & really disliked our experience with the peds at CHOP Highpoint, however, I have a non-vaxing friend who likes them just fine. They are mainstream and have vax propaganda all over the office but she just signed the waiver & that was that. I was going to switch over to the Kimberton Clinic in Kimberton, but we're moving so I'm just going to start over when we move. HTH.

i really like the practice i bring my boys to - horsham pediatrics. they are definitely mainstream, but don't give you issues if you decide to go against the norm. they do want you to sign off if you skip a vax though, which doesn't really phase me as we are in a super litigious state and i can see where they're coming from! all three docs are very nice and they respond to calls well. feel free to pm me with questions! they're on horsham road, not far from 5 points.

i was not happy here (kids first highpoint) too for a number of reasons. feel free to pm if you'd like details.

I take my kids to Just 4 Kids pediatrics in Harleysville, which is not too far from Lansdale. They are mainstream but are non-vax/delayed vax friendly and very respectful of our parenting choices in general.

For myself I see Dr. Rebecca Nice at Wellness Works in Chalfont. She is a DO, very holistic and and has been wonderful to work with (the practice is very new so I just started seeing her).

I hope you find someone you love and welcome back to the area!

Sus, I would love to find out more. Can you PM me? I thought he might be a good backup plan but realized no one here was seeing him, so something had to be wrong there.

DH called Woodmed today and they said they'll take DC for an acute sick visit if need be but they said it takes several months to get in for a "well" visit. I'd like to have a backup plan as my newborn is only 6w old right now.

It seems like some docs are okay with delayed schedules but not so much with total non vaxers. When my oldest was born we were in PA and started w/ one of the CHOP affiliated practices in Sellersville I think? I forget the name sadly. The doc we saw there was irritated we didn't have a paci on hand for DS's exam at like 2 days old, and they also had some sort of paperwork along the lines of "if you don't want to vax fully and on schedule, we aren't the practice for you." We ended up seeing someone in Allentown for a while and she was very good with BFing advice, supported cosleeping, etc. but was very provax...but tolerated us

Camelfam-do you know if Dr. Nice will take non vaxed children? We all see a great family practice doc down here in NC and I'd love it if we could all go to one office, kwim?

Amom'slove-Dr. Miller comes up on several lists as a non vax friendly doc. I think he's a DAN doc. His name is Lawrence Miller...if you google his name and Lansdale and non-vax I think it should come up. I realized no one was seeing him though and figured there must be a reason. Not sure if he's even still in the area but he's listed on a few non vax sites.

I was not happy w/ CHOP KidsFirst Highpoint; I don't know Dr. Miller.

DH just got home from work. I think we might have seen a CHOP affiliated practice in Perkasie maybe? I can't remember since it was 6+ years ago LOL.

I've been in this area for years and haven't heard of him. I'd be thrilled if he is here and is an awesome doc as we drive 45 mins to Kimberton for Dr. Fried. Dr. Fried is good and all, but he loves the tetanus vx (the only one he advocates) and it is damned expensive if you don't have insurance. I have thought about going to Kids First in Harleysville as I have heard good things and they are so much closer. I hate doctor hopping, though.

Ok, now I see him online. He looks to have good reviews. Why don't you call his office and ask a few questions or do an interview when you get here? Just because I haven't heard of his office doesn't mean he may not be great. Good luck!

A woman I know just started taking her kids to Dr. Miller. She drives from the Mainline area, so it's a hike. So far, she really really likes him. Since he is only 2 miles from me, I am going to have to check him out.

Thanks for the update! It sounds like he might be worth checking out. I"d love to hear from anyone who ends up seeing him. I have a young infant so I'll probably be choosing someone soon for a WBV.

hey vincie! i think she's referring to me. i do see dr. miller now and LOVE him. he's extremely supportive of all of the non-mainstream decisions we've made. he's made his own non-mainstream choices for his children as well, which feels great. i'm actually about to call him this morning for another appt (my poor 7yo DS broke his finger so we gotta get it checked). i googled his name bc i wanted to make sure i had his number right and found this thread!

anyway, we haven't been going to him long but i'm extremely grateful to have found him.

Do they have long waits generally?

I imagine no sick/well separate waiting areas since they are family practice?

Our previous doc in NC was awesome and we had long waits and no separate waiting rooms, so those are definitely not deal killers for us...just curious. Good docs are worth the wait. I just have 2 older kiddos who will hate waiting so I'm wondering how far behind he usually runs. When it was just two of them it wasn't so bad LOL.

I'm so happy to have found this thread. I've been taken my daughter to a family doctor that I go to, but I don't like him for neither of us. I just don't drive right now and it's within walking distance.

She's 1 and non-vax and we'll be driving again in a couple of weeks, so I wanted to start looking for a new doctor, not so mainstream.

I'm also very happy to see AP moms that live in the area. I've been living in Hatfield for about 2 1/2 years and it's been difficult for me to find moms that are into the same things as I am. Maybe we should start a thread for a playgroup? Or there's already one?
