If you are talking about with the Kindle, just go to the Kindle store on Amazon. You can look up any book or author you are interested in and it will tell you if it is available or not.

I got a Kindle 2 for Christmas and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!! My husband was recently diagnosed with cancer and we have been spending a LOT of time sitting in dr officers or at chemo. My Kindle has really come in handy. I have read more books in the past 6 weeks than I have in the past couple of years

I love that I can be anywhere and download my next book. That was a big selling point for me. Well and the fact that I also have the Kindle app on my iPhone which I was using before I got my Kindle. I like the fact that if I am reading a book on my Kindle and happen to forget it, I can read the same book on my iPhone. When I go to the book on my iPhone it will sync it with my Kindle so I don't have to worry about ever losing my place

if you own a Kindle you go to Amazon.com If you own a Nook then you go to
BarnesandNoble.com

I'm not sure about the Kindle but from the Barnes and Noble sight you can download books at the website and they go directly to the Nook. Also you can delete them from your account there too.

Yes, the Kindle works the same way. You can get books either on the computer or on the Kindle and they send them directly to the Kindle.

Also, here is a link to the free book section of amazon.

You can also try Project Gutenburg for free books: http://www.gutenberg.org/catalog/ You have to put those on your Kindle or Nook manually while the reader is connected to your computer.

Just joining in the discussion. Is there a way to share an account between DH and myself with two Kindle's (or a Kindle and iPhone app)? I would be annoyed if we had to buy a book twice.

i think so, as long as they're all on the same amazon account. But I'm kind of new to this. It seemed like they were saying you could share books across multiple kindles (or the iphone kindle app) as long as they're all on the same account - they sync up (unless you choose for them not to)

Yep! As long as you register both Kindles under the same Amazon account, you can send the book to each Kindle.

Can I share content with other Kindles?
Books can be shared between Kindles, Kindle for PC, or iPhones that are registered to the same account. There may be limits on the number of devices (usually 6) that can simultaneously use a single book. Subscriptions to newspapers or periodicals cannot be shared on multiple devices.

I have a Kindle! I bought it with my birthday money, and I've had it for a few weeks. I love it. I love that I can sit outside on a windy day and read, and I don't have to mark my page, I can just put it to sleep. Love it.

A friend asked me today "Which should I get??? I have no idea!!"

I told her that if I didn't have a Kindle now, it would really only come down to:

1. Which ereader has the easiest store interface so I can get my books quick and easy!
2. Which store do I find I frequent most?

And that's essentially all I'd ask if I knew I wanted an ereader but I just wasn't sure which one to pick. One ereader is always going to have different features than another. And which features are better are always going to depend on the user, and you can't find those out until you try one. So 1st!! Go play with one!

They really are both very good devices, but to simplify it... in the end, to me, it really is just a matter of who you want to buy from.

The Nook wasn't out when I got my Kindle, so the answer to #1 now would be either Kindle or Nook. They both have a good selection and are easy to use.
My answer to #2 is Amazon because I've always done most of my online shopping at Amazon so they are familiar and comfortable.
So Kindle would win.

recent comparison nook/kindle

http://ireaderreview.com/2010/04/24/...k-review-2010/

here is a recent review of each one. toward the end, there is a summary of differences which might help someone decide which are more impt for their own needs...

Thank you for the link, I was sort of on the fence. I think for me, the Nook will win, as my library supports lending through the Nook, but not the kindle. Also, my sister is an avid reader and we could "share" books-she is trying to decide on her e-reader too. LOL.

What kind of covers/protective gear do you all have for your kindles? I want to protect it, but I'm not sure what direction to go with.

soooo-i think i am buying myself a nook tomorrow. my best friend got one already, so we can lend eachother books, which could come in handy since we are in a book club together.

This is the cover I have for my Kindle. http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Kindle-...4799421&sr=1-5

It works well to protect the Kindle, but I think they have a newer version with a strap. Sometimes I wish I had one of the more colorful ones, but it was a gift, and it works, so I'm not complaining.

I also have a booklight thing for it which is nice if I want to read in bed or in the car at night. http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Reading...4799640&sr=1-4

I read that they've had trouble with the screen cracking... specifically w/use of the designated amazon case. Sooooo now I'm nervous about any of the cases, but even more nervous about no case.

I'm also considering a silicone gel cover like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A3E5K6GEFSI075 But I don't know if it'll fit in the cases...
