DD is Losing weight at 1 year, help!

Since birth DD has been pretty steady on the growth chart at her well baby visits. She's usually 50% weight, 45% height, 90% head. At her 9mo WBV she was 19lbs 11oz. Today we went for her 12mo WBV and she's lost weight! She's now 19lbs 6oz. The ped was concerned. I'm concerned. I thought she looked really skinny when we recently went to Hawaii. She is still BF and nurses about 4-6 times a day (I offer it more but she gets too distracted to really drink more than that.) Before Hawaii she was a pretty good solid eater, but when we were there she barely ate any solids, just nursed and drank water (and ate bananas and some avocado.) Now that we are home she's still really picky about solids. I offer her whatever we are eating. I'm trying to get more fats in her. I cook all our foods with coconut oil, olive, oil, or pasture butter. She doesn't like yogurt or cheese. We've introduced pretty much all foods except fish, nuts (just starting nuts, she just got almond butter yesterday) and citrus.

But she's really picky..For example, we were at a friend's 1st birthday and they had made little carrot cake cupcakes for the babies. The other babies were shoving them in their mouths. I gave DD one and she just squished it. I tore it into little pieces and put it in her mouth. She made a "yuck" face and spit it out. A cupcake! With cream cheese frosting! I thought it was delicious myself....

She still only has 2 teeth (bottom front) so maybe she's going to get more and her mouth hurts?

However, when I give her food she usually throws it and screams until I give her her favorite foods (she has me trained) which are blueberries, strawberries, and puffed rice. She will eat any of those in huge amounts. Anything else she just picks at. She used to eat half an avocado a day, and loved red meat, now she eats a few bites and throws it on the floor and cries for blueberries!

Anyway, the ped said if she doesn't gain weight in a month they want to check her thyroid...

Any advice? She looks skinny to me, but she's happy and playful, doesn't seem to be starving! She's not walking yet, but crawls at like 50mph. She's all over the place so is burning lots of calories, I bet.

Hmm what about combining some more nutrient dense foods with her favorites, like a blueberry smoothie with yogurt. If its cold it would feel good on teething gums too. I don't know that I'd offer much water at this point, if she's thirsty I'd want to have some pumped breastmilk available if you can do that. My skinny DD likes drinking half and half I've heard of people using ice cream when they're really trying to get the weight on too. I hope you hit on something that works, sounds like she just isn't eating enough though rather than a metabolic thing

My dd went from the 50th percentile to the 20th at about a year of age. The ped told me he was concerned. I was concerned. We watched her closely to make sure she met other developmental milestones and continued weight gain, even if it was slow, or, erratic. It ended up being nothing at all, just her own growth pattern. She's now 6, still REALLY skinny, and healthy as can be! In other words, don't panic! It could just be your dd's growth pattern doesn't mirror the norm.
