Help me think through a few thing...

Okay, my son recently turned one. He's been eating solids for a few months now and really good at it. The past couple of poops he's seemed a bit constipated. (He does most of his poops on the potty chair. It seems like he's had to strain extra hard the past 2) I bought him some Graham Crackers (My Dr. Sears Baby Book said they were good for a fiber source)

This morning I was letting him go diaper free for a little bit after being in a nighttime diaper. He was in the kitchen and I heard him make a funny noise so I went in to check on him...and he'd pooped all over the floor! It was VERY loose and almost liquid...and there was a tiny bit around his mouth.

So, what I need YOUR help with...

1) He seems fine and not sick. He's been nursing extra the past few days. Could it be his diet or something causing his upset tummy? He's also been teething...
2) Eating a teeny bit of poop won't hurt him right?

i think it was Dr Sears where i read eating poop will not hurt them.
my son just turned 1 too and his poops are runny sometimes. usually they are soft. i noticed cow's milk made mine have ROCK HARD poops. so i think it could be a definite possibility that is something dietary. Maybe you could figure out something unusual he ate a lot of. Maybe it could possibly be something you ate, too. I was sick last week and took more than usual vit C (went from 500 a day to 1000 and then one day i think i took 1500) without considering my nursling, who had a runny duke and got a burned rash immediately from it (i felt so bad!) He also reacted to vit C as a newborn; i took 1000 while pg with him which helped him be huge and healthy, but once he was nursing, that was too much ascorbic acid and i had to back down my dosage.

that's cool he does his bms on the potty. i want to get mine to use his little potty, your post was encouraging to me.
but your post underscores for me why i don't feel comfortable letting mine go without a diaper
good luck to ya'll!

and i think teething definitely can cause runny poop. maybe from all the extra slobber.

We avoid dairy because he reacts to it. We mistakenly fed him dairy (I didn't know fried apples were full of BUTTER) but that was Saturday. Hmm...I may head over to the allergy section and see what they think too.

And yeah, I can tell when he's pooping (he makes a face and a noise) so I just set him on the potty with toys until he's done. It makes my life so much easier.
