I gave birth at IMC. I used a midwife (Julie Jones) but she is independent of the IMC midwives.
My experience was a little unique- I had H1N1 when I delivered my little guy- and it was back in the fall when everyone was totally freaked about the flu. So we were in an isolation unit for my delivery. My L/D nurse had never seen a natural birth before, and she thought I was a little nuts to be going natural, especially with the flu. My dh also had the flu and was running a fever of 103 so he couldn't be there with me. So it was me and this L/D nurse for the first hour. It was okay. Not great, but okay. Once my midwife arrived, things were much smoother. I had the natural birth I wanted, so I can't complain too much
I like the nurses up on the maternity floor as well. They let me keep my babe with me as much as I wanted (let me even cosleep with him) and were very supportive of breastfeeding, etc. A much better experience than what I had when I delivered my first at the old Cottonwood hospital.
