rash from disposable nursing pads

Has anyone ever experienced a rash from using plastic backed nursing pads?

If so what did you do to help it heal other than not using the pads anymore and getting lots of air time?

I switched to the Imse Vimse wool and silk backed ones.

In the interim, I also spread a little bit of expressed milk on them too while letting them dry. A tiny bit of lasinoh can help too.

I was just about to order the imse vimse ones!

My son is such a messy eater that there is always milk on my breast during drying time, so that is good.
Did you put lansinoh on the whole affected area? I would have thought that would make a moisture barrier and not let the skin dry out thoroughly.

How long did it take to clear up? I'm sure I'm being impatient but the itchiness is so annoying.
I thought we might have thrush but my midwife didn't think so. So, after seeing her on Sunday I haven't used the pads again.

I was wondering if a bit of diaper cream might help

Update?

Any relief in sight yet?

One idea is aloe vera gel, straight from the plant. It tastes yucky though, so rinse well before nursing. Rinsing with chamomile tea (cooled) would be very soothing. Also my midwives suggested I use plain olive oil instead of lansinoh since we're vegetarians and lanolin isn't kosher/halal/ital.

It has gotten better, though not completely gone.
I started using straight hemp oil, have been spending as much time essentially topless as I can, and treating myself and my son with GSE just in case it was/is thrush (even though my midwife didn't think so).

My new imse vimse nursing pads + some hemp ones I ordered just came today! They are in the wash and will be in use tomorrow!
I also bought some natracare disposable pads for emergencies. They don't have any weird gels or plastic backing, just cotton.
