Laura I am so sorry. I was really hoping this was your month, just seemed so perfect.

Do you guys get superstitious about ttc at all? One of my co-workers and I both had babies a few weeks apart in 07 (both of us had ttc for quite awhile before that) Now we've both been trying a long time again (about 18mths for me, longer for her) and we both think that if one of us gets pregnant, then the other will too. Not really logical, we just think one of us will be the good luck charm for the other. Also if you think that things happen in 3's we might be in for good luck. Yesterday my dh found out that he got a new job as an executive chef at a theatre/banquet centre. Maybe this is just what we need to get our house to sell and finally get pregnant.

Thoughts: i'm thinking that we're going to take a break from clomid for awhile. I've gained so much weight with PCOS and i think i need to take some time to get back in shape. maybe we'll have better luck when i get to a healthier weight. i've waited almost 7 years, what's another one?

I haven't been around for a while. DH and I bought a house and it needs a lot of work. I have been letting that consume my life because it is nice to have a distraction form the IF. We came to the conclusion that clomid and I do not do well together so in mid June we will be moving on to injectibles with IUI.

I have a question for you ladies. DH comes from a very large family his dad is one of 12 and his mom is one of 5. We have many family functions this summer/fall with his dads side . We are the only married cousins in the child bearing years. We constantly get asked when we are going to have a baby. I don't mind discussing my infertility, but I don't want to have to tell each aunt, uncle and cousin individually during the course of a family gathering. (explaining it 20-30 times in one day is just too much) Would it be too weird to send out a short e-mail telling everyone that we are dealing with IF and that is is very difficult to be asked when we are going to have kids.

Well, this past week has been challenging to say the least. DS finally weaned at 4. Although I am sad, I know it was the right time. And on top of that, my old herniated disk re-reputured last week. I have been prescribed lots of rest, and a topical NSAID, since my stomach cannot really handle any oral NSAIDS.

So I have a quick question, not sure if anyone knows though. I googled, but most of the sites that looked promising are blocked. I know that NSAIDS have been linked to infertility, specifically to problems with the failure of the mature follicle to rupture and release the egg. Does anyone know how long prior to ovulation you would want to stop NSAID treatment in order to minimize the risk of the follicle not rupturing?

And DH got his sperm analysis back. Looks mostly normal, although he did have a low percentage of sperm of good morphology. I am not sure what method was used, but it considered above 15% normal, below 6% pathological. DH is between 8-9% normal. Does anyone have any insights into morphology? Are those levels that would make conception unlikely using natural methods? I know I would consider IUI, but DH is not willing at this point. But if we need IUI to conceive, I need to start arguing my case now, so that we can start saving for it after we finish fixing our bathroom.

AutumnLaughing: Sorry I can't be more help w/ the saliva microscope. I just could not read that thing. I found it absolutely confusing - thought I saw ferning during af which can't be right?

Laura: That just sucks. Nothing profound from me today. It just blows!!

stretch538: I haven't had much experience w/ family get togethers and dealing w/ IF issues - because mostly I avoid events with extended family members. And at this rate in the game - hardly anyone asks anymore. If you feel that sending an email out will effectively address the issue - go ahead - but if it might create more questions or awkward situations, then it's kind of a moot point imho.

afm: cd19. Excrutiating o pain today even though FF says I o'd sometime between cd4-12. I'm also exhausted and body achy but attributing that to the MRSA I developed this week. So, I also just started antibiotics today. Staph infections are *awesome* - UGH. But I'd rather get rid of it now then deal w/ it during a cycle w/ injectibles. Still haven't heard back from my Endo about the MRI - they have wonky office hours and I seem to only remember to call them when their answering service is on. *sigh* Eventually we'll get this right, right?

stretch538: i think it would be a great idea to send an email. let them know that you understand their excitement for you to make babies but that you are having issues and you're happy to talk about it or answer any questions. i wish i had thought to do that

Laura i'm so sorry!!!! I know it's hard but it took me being on injectables before i got pregnant...i've got my fx for you and know that everyone's cheering you on. I'll be everyone's cheerleader if i could get my butt up long enough to get on the computer everyday like i use to!!!!! This new day shift job is about to kill me after me being on night shift for 4 years straight!!!

Well hey, maybe that's all I need, to be trying something different! I hope so. I've resigned myself to IVF, but it would be AWESOME to not have to get to that point. Although I have to say, using injectables is kind of like mini-IVF in a way, without the baseball-sized ovaries. :-P

That's true. What kind of injectable are you on and how much of it are you on? I did really good with the 5 days of femara combined with a week of 112.5 iu's of menopur. I ended up with three follicles that cycle and i got to use my trigger shot...and now we are expecting our first baby together (my second since i have my dd from my previous marriage). I've got lots of love going out for this cycle for you!!!!!!!

Laura where are you at in your cycle? Have you started your meds yet?

I tested bfn yesterday at 8dpo so the trigger shot it gone. Now to wait a few more days. DH just got a new job, not sure if I posted about it, but getting pregnant this month would be the icing on the cake!

Stretch365 - I don't know that it would be weird, or rather - it might be a little weird, but not as weird as having to individually tell so many people! I tend to assume a grapevine - and I'm kind of surprised when it doesn't happen. We had a family gathering this weekend, and I was surprised that one aunt didn't know - I know my mother told HER mother, and this aunt lives with Grandma. Similarly though, I don't (usually) mind discussing it - I'd rather they know!

fierrbugg - I'm pretty sure that I've seen some ferning almost every time I've used it, but I hear that people with PCOS have high estrogen levels, which is usually what the ferning is said to indicate (a few times I've heard LH levels?). sorry to read about your health stess I hope you're feeling better.

Laura - I hope this is just the change you need!

AFM - FF gave me crosshairs on CD14. Which kind of good, because I usually have a really long, unpredictable follicular phase - but also kind of bad, because that's 4 days from the most recent "BD". I'm thinking that really, CD 12 or 13 would be possible, too... So, now I'm in the most boring part of the 2ww - after I'm sure I O'd, but before there's any real reason to test.

I've been having a particularly crampy month - since before I O'd, I think. Which probably isn't a good sign, although I've been crossing my fingers since about 5 DPO that it IS a good sign...

I still haven't heard from my midwife :/ I should call the office again, but it's been a crazy week at work.

I'm on day 5. I started Gonal-F (75iu) on day 3. B/w and u/s on Friday! I'm feeling okay so far, but I've been carrying a lot of stress in my shoulders and neck. Don't love that! I also got really weepy and angry and hormonal yesterday morning... I haven't been like that since our round of IVF last year, so I blame the Gonal-F.

Leslie, sounds like this month would be pretty sweet for a BFP! :-P

thanks for the advice ladies. I think I will send out an e-mail. I really think it will be easier than having to "announce" it so many times. I'm fine with discussing it with people, I'm just not good at the initial saying We're having trouble.


thtr4me- Sorry about the back, I threw min out about a month ago and I'm only now just starting to feel myself again. On Morph my dh's was 4% normal morph our RE thinks that is ok (I think it all depends on the RE on how important they think morph is)

fierrbugg - I home the abx clears up the infection quickly.

ladylaura - I'll be moving onto injectibles with IUI on my next medicated cycle. (the end of June)

leslie - congrats on DH's new job.



I took this current cycle off (AF due on Sat) and we are taking next cycle off too. I am going a little crazy, I just want to get on with things, but we just bought a house and it needs so much work before we can move in, and my insurance is changing on June 1 so we decided to wait until things calm down a bit before moving on to the injectibles. I am getting a uterine sounding with the start of my next cycle and I'm taking the injection class on June 1. So I will be all ready for my late june cycle to start.

I'm back from the dead, I used to post on this thread forever ago.

We just had egg retrieval from IVF #2 yesterday. 13 eggs! We only got 3 from IVF #1 so this is like a miracle to me! Waiting to get a call today to hear about the maturity and fert report.

Got the phone call yesterday that 8 of our 13 eggs are mature. 5 of those fertilized with ICSI. Will get a call tomorrow with status report on how they're dividing. I'm trying to stay positive. 5 eggs fertilized is more than we had last time (3 eggs, 2 mature, 2 fertilized, 1 made it to 5 day transfer). If we have two to transfer on Tuesday I will be thrilled.

Looks like I'm out again this month We're doing one more month of Femara and then I see him on June 29 to talk about injectibles.
