3 mo has white nipple

3 mo ds has had a white nipple for a few weeks now, and i am wondering what it could possibly be. i wasn't too concerned at first since it didn't look irritated or seem to bother him. it looks like the nipple on one side is a tiny bit larger, white, and firm.

my mil freaked out about it though, so i called the doctor and was told it may take a while to receive a response. now i'm feeling very worried in the meantime.

ds wasn't born like this- it appeared a few weeks after he was born. is there nothing to be concerned about then...?

My DD developed one at 8 months and it's just starting to disappear now. I showed it to two different doctors and both said it was no big deal - just a cyst. It looked kind of like a big whitehead on her nipple and felt hard, but the underlying nipple itself felt normal.
