What's your favorite Sesame Street song?

There was one that I saw when I was a kid, "We All Sing with the Same Voice" which I absolutely love. I found it in a music book years later and bought it even though it was out of my price range because it had that song in it. :LOL I also really like "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon".

I think about these songs a lot, because I love them even though I won't let Eli watch Sesame Street (too flashy, not like when I was younger, and there is way too much commercialism associated with it. )

mom4tot, i believe that would be shiny happy monsters.

is the song "i don't want to live on the moon" the same one as "someday, there might be children on the moon"? because i have had this song in my head for a week now (thanks to an old SS tape ds loves) and it's funny that someone else here was thinking about it. i'm guessing that it's a different song though.

"I Love Trash" by Oscar the Grouch.

We have a video from the 80s called Sing Yourself Silly, and I highly recommended checking for it on ebay. It has a part with a very young James Taylor singing a song about Jelly Man Kelly ("he sure loved jelly") and it is the coolest freakin' song on the planet. If you were here I would sing it for you.

here's a story bout jelly man kelly
he sured love jelly
(i forget the next part)

here's a story bout jenny mulhenny
she's a fireman's daughter
ah but most of all
jenny mulhenny loved to boil hot water

jenny put the lettle on,
Jenny put the kettle on jelly man kelly can he come home jenny can he come

ooooooohhhh can he come home jenny can he come home jenny can he come.......
oooooo can he come home jenny can he come home jenny can he come

it is the BEST song. Some rad jazz dude plays a tuba along with james on the guitar. and apparently one of the kids surrounding him is his real life daughter.

I just put that video in the other day so I could hear it--the kids singing are hilarious.

Oooooooooh...there is a new sesame street album coming out!!!

My other favorites are Sing, La La La, I Don't Want to Live on the Moon, Up Goes the Castle, Imagination (the Ernie one...not the Elmo one!), and...how could anyone resist Doin' the Pigeon???

When I saw this thread "We All Sing with the Same Voice" is the first song that popped into my head :-)! I also love "It's Not Easy Being Green", "Up Goes the Castle" and "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon". I enjoy the gentle wishfulness of those songs. Sesame Street should put out an greatest hits video. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

I LOVE : the 25th Anniversary video and all the songs on it, especially "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon."

When I used to babysit, I made the kids watch it everyday for months. Just because I wanted to see it!
