What's your favorite Sesame Street song? - Page 2

The song about the alligator king reminded me of another favorite:

"The Ladybug Picnic"

I hate to do a plug for another album, but I just remembered it (and this is one I actually have already )

For The Kids

It is an incredible album if you are into remakes of sesame street/muppet songs (Cake doing Mahnah Mahnah, BareNaked Ladies doing La La La, Sarah Mclachlan doing Rainbow Connection....). There are a few muppet inspired songs too (We all love Dan Zanes' Wonderwheel). The website has a lot of info on why the album was made and all the artists.

These are great! :LOL My mother's favorite songs are "manah manah" and "We all live in a capital I" (she's a bit odd! :LOL) I wish my speakers worked, I'd go hear it. Oh, and when my youngest sister was really small, she liked the one that went:

The ball goes up, the ball goes down
the ball keeps going round and round;
I'll catch, you throw heads up, heads up, follow.

And "B is for Bubble". Interestingly, her older daughter seemed to inherit an affinity for these songs, but her two favorites were "Monster in the Mirror" (she liked the "wubuh wubuh's" from day one) and another that goes:

One, two
two little dolls.
One, two
two little chairs.
Two little dolls,
two little chairs
two little girls
and a little dollhouse.

One, two
two little plates.
One, two
two little spoons.
Two little plates,
two little spoons,
two little dolls
and a little dollhouse.

Two little girls
serve two dolls tea,
behaving grown-up
as can be.
I can count them one and two,
I can count them, why don't you?

One, two,
two sleepyheads.
One, two,
two little beds.
Two sleepyheads,
two little beds,
all quiet now
in a little dollhouse.

What's that
small pitter-pat?
One, two,
two kitty cats!
Two kitty cats
went on a spree
then sat down and
had
some
tea.

At least, i think that's how it goes... please correct me if I've made an error! It's such a pretty little song! :LOL

That "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon" really got me when Ernie sang the duet with Aaron Neville ... awesome. That was magnificent. A great musical moment. And on "Sesame Street," imagine that. Maybe my favorite thing on SesSt ever.

Love REM doing "Shiny Happy Monsters," another one of my favorite SesSt moments ever ... and number 3 is Tony Bennett singing "Slimey to the Moon."

My dh has that 12/Ping Pong song on vinyl, he loves it so much. There are dj's out there that remix it, it's so popular.

People take Sesame Street with them their whole lives...

Yep, that's my favorite.

The "C is for Cookie, that's good enough for me" song always gets stuck in my head.

But ds's favorite song is the one they play when they find Ernie on Journey to Ernie. He always gets up and dances and cheers, and makes me come dance with him as well.

Just thought I'd share this goldmine:

For all the lyrics you love, but can't remember.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the capital 'I' song too.

I have this amazing 8-track of an old album--The Count Counts Down. it's like a radio show, and the count is the dj--lady bug picnic, martian beauty, 8 penny candyman, king of 8, I just adore 4--they're all on there. There is another Count counts down made later, but it doesn't have all of the lovely songs of the original. I really miss that album!
