Last week a friend showed up at our house with his kids and pizza for everyone. Yay! We had a great time - kids running around in the backyard, no cooking or dishes for dinner.
At one point, one of the kids dropped his pizza face down in some grass & dirt. I was busy with another kid but when I returned to pick up the pizza and toss it, our friend said he'd thrown it in the trash, and pointed towards the compost bin! I didn't want to embarass him so instead of taking the pizza out of the compost while they were here, I waited.
Later that evening I asked DH to fish the pizza out when he had a chance ... fast forward to today (at least a week later) and it turns out DH never did check on the pizza. He just now went out to get it, and returned saying it was all moldy so he just mixed it in with the rest of the compost.
Are we going to regret that!? Should I try to go out and rectify the situation or just let this pass and assume it will all turn out alright?

I think your slice of pizza is just fine as long as you have a good hot compost going!

Guess we're a little backwards
